Privacy Policy

CatDex is made by NoctisPeak. It helps you identify and collect cat breeds. There's no account, no advertising and no tracking across apps or websites.

Photos you scan

When you scan, you take or choose a photo. A downsized copy is sent to our server, which forwards it to Anthropic's Claude API solely to identify the breed. Photos are not stored on our servers after identification.

A copy is also saved in the app's private storage on your phone so it can appear in your collection and journal.

What stays on your phone

These are stored only in the app on your device and are never sent to us:

• The breeds you've discovered, your scan history and your saved photos
• Nicknames and notes you add, quiz results, streaks and badges
• Your settings, including an optional first name used for greetings

Using Settings › Reset my CatDex, or deleting the app, removes them.

Camera and photo library

CatDex asks for camera and photo access only so you can take or pick a photo to scan. It never accesses them without your action.

Notifications

If you turn on the Breed of the Day, CatDex schedules local notifications on your device. No push token or device identifier is sent to us.

Services we use

• Anthropic analyzes scanned photos (privacy policy).
• Vercel hosts the server that relays scans and may keep standard request logs (privacy policy).
• The Cat API provides breed information and hosts breed photos, which the app loads without sending personal data (privacy policy).

Children

CatDex does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
