Common questions

How do I mark something as done?

Press and hold its plate, on the shelf or on the plate's own page. A ring fills around it and the plate polishes bright. It's a hold rather than a tap so nothing gets reset by accident. Polished the wrong one? Tap Undo in the note that appears.

I did it a few days ago. Can I log that?

Yes. Tap the plate to open it, then choose a day under Did it earlier? To take an entry out, tap the × next to it in the ledger.

What do the colours mean?

A plate starts bright the day you polish it and slowly mellows as its rhythm runs out. Once it's past due it dulls, and if it's left well past due, verdigris creeps in. The Workbench has a legend under How Brightwork works.

What does "kept bright" mean?

On a plate's page, it's how many times you did the thing within its rhythm, out of every time you've logged it.

I'm not getting nudges.

Turn on Daily nudge in the Workbench, pick a time, and allow notifications when asked. If you said no before, open your phone's Settings, find Brightwork, and turn notifications on. You'll get one quiet note, at the time you chose, on the day something comes due. If one plate never reminds you, open it and check its Reminder isn't set to Off.

Can a plate remind me at its own time?

Yes, with Brightwork Keeper. Edit the plate and choose a time under Reminder, or turn it off for that plate. Plates left on With the shelf share the daily nudge.

How do I restore Brightwork Keeper?

Open the Keeper sheet from the Workbench and tap Restore purchase while signed in to the same Apple ID (or Google account) you bought with. Keeper works with Family Sharing on iPhone.

How do I move to a new phone?

Your plates come across with an iCloud or device backup. To move them yourself, open the Workbench on your old phone and tap Back up to a file, then save it somewhere you can reach from the new phone, such as iCloud Drive, or email it to yourself. On the new phone, tap New phone? Restore from a backup on the welcome screen (or Restore from a backup in the Workbench) and pick the file.

Can I get my data out?

Always. Share your ledger sends a readable list of every plate and every date. Back up to a file saves everything as a JSON file you can keep, restore, or open anywhere.

How do I delete my data?

Everything is stored only on your phone. Use Erase everything in the Workbench, or delete the app. See the privacy policy for details.
